Contemporary Traditional Tattooing
Born & raised in Edmonton, I always enjoyed drawing. Often replicating my favourite comic characters, it was something I did throughout my childhood. I didn’t begin finding interest in tattoos until I began being a part of the local metal & hardcore scene in my teenage years. I got my first tattoo at age 18, but didn’t pursue tattooing as a career option until much later in life.
After University, I began drawing again, and decided to attempt to get into tattooing. After a few years of trying to find an apprenticeship, and getting as much info as I could by hanging around shops, in the summer of 2017 I found myself with an opportunity to start tattooing.
Since then, I have been striving to create tattoos that pay homage to the classic designs of the past, while allowing my other artistic influences to help shape their final form.
Influences from Folk art, flow & form found in biological illustration and nature, as well as abstraction can be found within my designs at times. I find trying to take classic imagery & making them unique to be both deeply satisfying, as well as challenging, and it is what I enjoy doing the most.
With that said, tattooing classics as they were initially designed is something I always enjoy, as the designs are timeless and considered classic for a reason. I am also happy to take on any idea, big or small, as long as I feel I can do a good job for the client.
You can find me currently working at Easy Tiger Tattoo, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at 11738 96 Street.
